VINTAGE Hand Turned Hardwood Keepsake Box Honey Brown Tiered Lid 5 Inch Wooden Jewelry Trinket Container

This little box has been part of my family for decades. My Uncle George made it from hardwood he collected during his time in South America in the 1930s and 1940s. I believe he made these boxes in the 1950s or 1960s, turning them on a lathe and polishing the wood to a beautiful shine.

Originally intended to hold cigarettes, it is ready for a new purpose: jewelry, small keepsakes, or a little cache for a prized possession.

This one has warm honey-brown coloring and sweeping grain, with a gently tapered body, a shaped foot, and a low tiered lid topped by a rounded button. The wood species is unknown, but Uncle George knew how to let its beauty show.

Approximately 5" tall with the lid. This listing is for the single honey-brown box shown.

I have cleaned it, refreshed the wax finish, and replaced the deteriorated felt underneath with a new cork pad. Minor surface wear and natural variations in the wood remain visible. Please see the photos for its individual grain and condition.

After all these years in our family, it is ready to become someone else’s beautiful little keeper of treasures.
