VINTAGE Hamilton Beach Drinkmaster Model 51 Malt Milkshake Mixer Restored Made in USA

Vintage Hamilton Beach Model 51 Drinkmaster malt and milkshake mixer, made in Racine, Wisconsin by Hamilton Beach, a division of Scovill Manufacturing Company.

This is one of those wonderful mid-century appliances that was built when a milkshake mixer wasn't supposed to be disposable. The sculptural all-metal body, brushed finish and bright red Hamilton Beach badge give it unmistakable soda-fountain style.

The Model 51 was produced from 1951 through 1963. This example bears a separate "G61" production/date stamp on the underside; the "61" appears consistent with 1961 manufacture. A 1961 retail catalog advertised this same Model 51 Drinkmaster in brushed chrome, rated at 115 volts and 50 watts, just as this machine is marked.

More importantly, this Drinkmaster isn't being offered simply because we plugged it in and discovered that it runs.

It has received the full Auntie Nen's Stuff treatment: carefully disassembled, cleaned, serviced and reassembled, with a new power cord and new rubber feet installed. It has been tested and runs smoothly and quietly.

The mixer includes a new stainless-steel replacement mixing cup correctly sized for the Model 51. Original Model 51 cups were plastic and relatively few have survived, so the stainless replacement makes this one ready to go back to work.

The original butterfly-style agitator is present. Raise the cup into position and the mixer does what it has been doing for more than six decades—whipping milk, ice cream and syrup into a proper old-fashioned malt or milkshake.

Cosmetically, the mixer presents beautifully while retaining the honest evidence of its age. The brushed metal finish shows light scratches, marks and small areas of wear from decades of use. The original red Hamilton Beach Drinkmaster badge remains bright and legible with some age-related wear. Please review the photographs closely; this is a restored vintage appliance, not a reproduction made to look old.
