VINTAGE Fred Arbogast Jointed Jitterbug Red Ivory Fishing Lure Display Stand Made in USA

Vintage Fred Arbogast jointed Jitterbug fishing lure in red and ivory, displayed on a custom-made black wood stand.

Made by Fred Arbogast in Akron, Ohio, this wonderfully mechanical old lure features a jointed two-piece body, distinctive metal Jitterbug lip, painted eye detail and two treble hooks.

The ivory-colored body has a red-painted head and retains a partially visible red JITTERBUG marking along the side. The finish shows considerable authentic wear, including scratches, discoloration, paint loss and staining from age and use. The metal lip, hardware and hooks also show oxidation and wear. I have carefully cleaned the lure while intentionally preserving its aged finish and vintage character.

The underside of the metal lip retains the FRED ARBOGAST / AKRON, OHIO identification, although the stamping is considerably more difficult to read on this example.

The lure is presented on a simple custom display stand that allows the unusual jointed construction and hardware to be seen from every angle. The lure is not permanently attached. It hangs on brass-colored supports and can easily be removed for closer observation.

The black wood base measures approximately 3 inches in diameter and has a cork bottom to protect furniture. The complete display stands approximately 4-1/2 inches tall. The metal lip measures approximately 2 inches wide.

This is an authentic vintage fishing lure showing considerable evidence of actual use, not a restored example. Please examine the photographs carefully for condition. Its scratches, discoloration and aged finish are part of its wonderful vintage character.

SAFETY NOTE: This vintage fishing lure retains its original-style treble hooks, which are extremely sharp. This is not a toy and should be displayed well out of the reach of children and pets. Please use caution when removing the lure from its stand or handling it for closer examination.
