✨ Vintage CorningWare 11" Skillet with Pyrex Lid — Classic Cornflower Pattern
Few designs are as recognizable in American kitchens as CorningWare’s iconic Cornflower Blue pattern. Introduced in the late 1950s, this simple blue floral motif became a perennial favorite, appearing on millions of casseroles, skillets, and baking dishes across the country.
This example is the less common 11-inch skillet (model P-11-B), a generously sized and versatile piece designed for oven cooking, serving, and everyday family meals. While the 10-inch CorningWare skillet is widely seen, the 11-inch version was produced in smaller numbers and is encountered less often today, making it a particularly nice find for cooks and collectors alike.
The skillet includes its original clear Pyrex lid, allowing cooks to monitor food while it bakes — a design improvement Corning introduced after the earliest Pyroceram-lid pieces.
Whether used regularly in the kitchen or displayed as part of a mid-century cookware collection, this timeless piece remains both practical and nostalgic.
A true heritage piece of American cookware that still performs beautifully decades later.

💬 Auntie Nen’s Note
CorningWare was designed to move seamlessly from oven to table, eliminating the need to transfer food into a serving dish. The Cornflower pattern quickly became a beloved staple in American kitchens, prized for its durability, simplicity, and timeless style.
Decades later, these pieces remain a perennial favorite — still practical, still beautiful, and still part of everyday cooking.
If you enjoy the history behind vintage kitchenware, I recently shared a short video explaining how CorningWare grew out of Pyroceram — a remarkable glass-ceramic material originally developed for high-heat industrial and aerospace uses.
