☕️ Details
This is the scarce wartime-production Pyrex Flameware 7826-B percolator — a 6-cup stovetop glass coffee maker produced during WWII when materials shortages reshaped American cookware. Instead of the usual stainless-steel and glass components, this transitional model features:
Aluminum pump stem (wartime substitution for glass)
Carbon-steel band securing the handle (instead of stainless)
No separate top spreader — the flared stem + molded glass diffuser fins in the lid do the work
Correct 778C lid, clear and original
Complete internals, fully cleaned and ready for use
Flameware remains one of the most iconic ways to brew coffee — smooth, aromatic, and endlessly beautiful on the stove.
⚙️ Condition
Crystal-clear glass throughout. No chips or cracks. The carbon-steel band shows era-appropriate patina (normal and honest for wartime models). Aluminum stem is straight and clean. All components disassemble easily. Fully cleaned, de-gunked, and buffed to remove oxidation — no chemical polish.
A complete, functional wartime 7826-B is genuinely hard to find.
💬 Auntie Nen’s Note
Wartime Pyrex is one of my favorite little corners of Flameware history. When stainless and borosilicate materials were diverted to the war effort, Pyrex engineers reworked their famous percolator line so Americans could still have their morning coffee. This 7826-B is a perfect example — simplified, sturdy, and clever in its design. If you love Pyrex, coffee, or American industrial history, this one has a story worth telling.
