🫖 Vintage “Pompeian” Silver-Plated Sugar Bowl & Creamer Set
Maker: W. & D. Silver Co., Sheffield, England
Pattern: Pompeian
Material: EPNS (Electroplated Nickel Silver)
Era: c.1910s–1920s
This finely engraved sugar and creamer set showcases the Pompeian pattern by W. & D. Silver Co. of Sheffield, England. Each piece features elegant floral and linear etching with a radiating motif on the foot and interior. The design reflects the refined transitional style between late Edwardian and early Art Deco aesthetics — balanced, crisp, and quietly opulent.
The pieces have been carefully hand-polished to retain their historic surface and gentle patina. The silver plate remains bright and reflective throughout, with just a small area of plate loss along the edge of one foot (see photos). The lid finial appears to be natural onyx or possibly polished ebony — a detail consistent with early 20th-century craftsmanship and too early to be a synthetic material such as Bakelite.
A beautiful survivor from the golden age of British silverplate, ready to display or use for service with tea, coffee, or sugar.
✨ Condition: Excellent vintage condition overall. Bright plating, clean interiors, and secure handles. Minor loss to plate at one base edge (see last photo). Finial is tight and intact.
