Vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster Knife Sharpener Attachment (Model KS-2)
A rare Mixmaster accessory from the 1940s, designed to convert your stand mixer into a precision knife-sharpening tool. The Sunbeam KS-2 mounts directly to the Mixmaster’s power-take-off port, using the motor to spin a fine sharpening stone housed in a compact chrome-finished casing.
➡️ Compatibility Note:
This attachment fits only early Mixmaster models with two holes in the baseplate—made prior to the introduction of the bowl-shift lever.
If your Mixmaster has a bowl-shift lever, it’s too new for this accessory.
✨ Includes:
• Original KS-2 knife sharpener unit
• Polished metal housing with intact Sunbeam crest
• Original paper instruction sheet (fragile but legible)
• Original Sunbeam KS-2 box
Condition:
This sharpener arrived with a tired gray surface and light oxidation. It has since been thoroughly cleaned, de-rusted, and polished to bare metal, preserving the original Sunbeam crest and leaving a bright, satin-metal finish protected with a thin coat of polish. The internal wheel turns freely, and the piece displays beautifully with its original paperwork and box.
📅 Estimated Decade: 1940s
🏷 Made in USA
Pair it with your vintage Mixmaster to complete the original Sunbeam workstation—or display it as a fascinating example of mid-century American kitchen innovation.
