As America's heartland was electrified in the 1930's, refrigerators began to replace ice boxes as a more reliable way to store and preserve food. Manufacturers touted the modern convenience of planning ahead and serving "leftovers." But before ziplock bags and Saran Wrap, how would the modern housewife contain all this new-found goodness?
In perhaps the world's first marketing collab, the Hall China Company worked with manufacturers to created beautiful, stylish containers to be co-branded with their refrigerators. Sometimes packed with the machines as a bonus, they created different patterns and colors over the years.
These 2 art deco beauties were made for Montgomery Ward, and are identical except for size. They are both 4" tall with a streamlined fin handle and fluting around the foot. One dish is 7" in diameter and one is 8" in diameter. They are both in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or crazing., and both are marked with the Wards/Hall collab on the back.
Whether you're a collector of art deco, vintage appliances, or even department store ephemera, these will make a stunning addition to your fridge scape! Free S&H in the US!
