VINTAGE Hand-stitched Petit Pointe Ikebana Iris Framed Fiber Art

This beautiful canvas was stitched by Momma's brother, as can be seen in the stitched signature "AuGeo for JHB." JHB being Momma, and AuGeo being her only brother, a Christian Brother of the Jesuit order, who taught at St. Michael's University in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Each summer, Uncle Dutchie, as we knew him, would visit mom for about a week, and they would visit, explore, and stitch for hours as they enjoyed their time together. This particular canvas would have been worked sometime during the 1980's, but that's a close as I can get to the date. It's mounted to wood and framed without glass in a dark green aluminum frame which measures 16" tall and 10" wide. It has not been on display for many years, so it is in excellent condition.
