π Historic WWII Artifact β This 1942 10 Yuan banknote from The Central Bank of China captures a moment in history with a striking illustration of a bugler sounding his call atop the Great Wall. The distinctive blue ink and unusually short note format set it apart from more common designs.
π Unique Features β Still crisp with no tears, this note shows light staining and creasing consistent with its age. The vivid blue printing and compact proportions make it equally appealing as a collectible, conversation piece, or framed decor.
π From My Fatherβs WWII Service β My father served as a U.S. payroll sergeant in Shanghai during WWII. When Chinaβs currency became worthless from overprinting and devaluation, the U.S. shipped in dollars to pay the troops. My father asked his commanding officer what he should do with all the now-worthless Chinese notes on hand. The reply? βI donβt care if you decorate your Christmas tree with it!β β so they did. Many surviving notes, including this one, still bear tape marks from that holiday display. This bill was separated from others by carefully cutting the tape to avoid damage.
π Explore More WWII Currency β I have several different designs and denominations from my fatherβs WWII service in China, each with its own imagery and story. Browse the WWII Currency section of my shop to find more β and save on shipping when you order multiple notes.
π A Meaningful Collectorβs Gift β Perfect for a history buff, currency collector, or military enthusiast, this note offers a fascinating blend of artistry, storytelling, and tangible connection to the WWII era.
